General Veterinary Medicine for Pets – Prevention and Protection Against Infections

Comprehensive Care for Small Animals
Our veterinary practice in Linz offers a wide range of services—from general medicine to surgery for small animals. In addition to treating acute and chronic illnesses, we focus on prevention and protecting your pet from infections and organ changes to ensure their long-term health.
Vaccinations: More Important Than Ever
With advancements in vaccines and updated knowledge on protection intervals, we provide thorough advice on the most effective vaccination schedules for your pet. Unfortunately, due to the illegal import of puppies from breeding mills, we are seeing a resurgence of diseases that could easily be prevented with proper vaccinations. The Austrian Veterinary Association recommends vaccinations such as rabies, distemper and parvovirus for dogs.
Wellness Examinations: Early Detection is Key
As our pets are living longer, regular wellness check-ups are becoming increasingly important. These exams help us detect organ changes early and intervene before they become more serious. We offer individually tailored programs depending on your pet's species, breed, age, and existing conditions, which may include blood tests, organ function analysis, chest X-rays, and ultrasound. Wellness exams are essential once your pet reaches adulthood, and they are scheduled annually or more frequently depending on their overall health.

Parasite Prevention: New Risks Due to Climate Change
With climate change, new parasites have emerged in our region that pose serious health risks to our pets. These include the meadow tick (Dermacentor reticulatus) and the brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), which can transmit diseases such as babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, and haemobartonellosis. Even with rapid diagnosis and proper treatment, these diseases can be fatal. Comprehensive parasite prevention is therefore crucial. Do you have questions about the risk of these diseases spreading to humans? Feel free to contact us—we're happy to help.
Behavioral Counseling: Managing Stress, Panic, and Aggression
Behavioral issues such as anxiety, tension with other pets or family members, and aggression are becoming increasingly common. Stress-related behaviors—like a dog snapping or a cat suddenly marking the house—can make daily life difficult. In many cases, these behavioral changes have medical causes.
We take the time to explore the root causes of such behaviors with you and develop the best possible treatment plan. In about a third of cases, medication is required, which we administer in close collaboration with specialists if needed.
