Echocardiography for Small Animals – Early Detection of Heart Diseases!

Exercise intolerance, premature aging, increased panting, weight loss, and coughing (especially at night or during excitement) are common symptoms that may necessitate an echocardiogram. Often, the referring veterinarian raises concerns about potential heart failure during routine examinations and recommends a heart ultrasound. This imaging diagnostic method allows for accurate identification of possible heart diseases, which can then be treated effectively.

The echocardiogram precisely displays the heart and current flow dynamics. The ultrasound technique clearly shows changes in the heart valves, heart muscle, and flow velocities. Complementary x-ray imaging of the chest, ECG examinations, and blood pressure measurements help develop an optimal therapy plan.

If your pet is diagnosed with a heart condition, our experienced team in Linz will explain the findings in detail and discuss an appropriate treatment plan. Depending on the severity of the condition, follow-up checks will be conducted every six months to a year. Reliable treatment can significantly improve your pet's quality of life.

Common Heart Diseases in Small Animals Include:

We Identify Possible Heart Diseases in Your Small Animal!

The entire ECG examination is completely painless and does not require sedation or anesthesia, as this can sometimes hinder diagnosis. The ultrasound examination is performed while the pet is lying down, when possible, to ensure optimal image quality. In animals with particularly thick fur, shaving the chest wall may be necessary.
We take the time to thoroughly explain the underlying conditions. We want you as pet owners to understand why your pet requires certain medications and what is happening within your pet's body.
