Modern Diagnostic Options for Small Animals in Linz – Diagnosis
Laboratory tests, X-rays, and ultrasounds are essential components of diagnostics and have become indispensable in our daily practice in Linz. Our modern diagnostic procedures enable quick and precise assessments, which are crucial for optimal treatment.
Digital X-Ray
X-ray examinations maintain their central importance as a form of imaging diagnostics. They provide valuable services for clarifying heart and lung diseases, as well as conditions affecting the digestive and urinary systems. Particularly for examining the skeletal system, such as for fractures, degenerative changes, growth disorders, or congenital malformations, X-rays remain the preferred method.
New Digital Dental X-Ray
Recently, we have introduced a state-of-the-art digital dental X-ray system, similar to that used in human medicine. This procedure allows for detailed imaging of all four quadrants of the oral cavity, including the tooth roots, which may appear normal during a routine examination. Inflammatory processes of the tooth roots are often the cause of reluctance to eat or pain, and can now be accurately diagnosed. This examination is conducted under light sedation, as patients might bite down on the small X-ray plates while conscious.
Laboratory
In cases of acute illness, rapid assessment of organ systems and potential changes in the blood profile can be life-saving. We perform chemical examinations of vital organ systems and blood profiles directly in our practice, allowing us to obtain crucial information within minutes. In addition to blood analysis, we also examine urine and stool samples, as well as conduct microscopic examinations of aspirates and smears. For comprehensive assessments in preventive care or specific diagnostic inquiries, we collaborate closely with leading external laboratory institutes.
Digital Ultrasound
Ultrasound plays a significant role in imaging diagnostics alongside X-rays. By using ultrasound waves, we can visualize soft tissues and gain detailed insights into the structures of various organs. This painless procedure is generally well-tolerated by animals. For the past two years, we have been using a digital ultrasound system that provides improved image resolution and data processing for even more accurate results. In addition to examining organs within body cavities, ultrasound allows us to assess the heart (echocardiography), muscles, tendons, and ligament structures around the joints.
